Family Law Legal Services and Costs

An uncontested dissolution is a divorce with attorney representation. The spouses typically are in agreement on all issues related to their divorce. Langley Law represents one of the spouses and files on that spouse’s behalf. Our firm will meet with you, draft all documents, file them with the Court, and appear on your behalf. The flat fee includes meetings, all Court filing fees, and service of process, among other costs.

Langley Law will meet with you and your spouse, address the legal aspects of your divorce, and assist you both in reaching an agreement on all issues prior to filing for divorce. Our firm provides two hours of mediation services and draft all necessary documents for the finalization of the divorce.  Langley Law will not enter our appearance for either party, but will provide the parties with the completed paperwork to submit to the Court to conclude the divorce.

Langley Law offers family mediation and civil mediation services with a certified mediator, scheduled in 2-hours blocks, either in-person or virtually. Our mediation services can reduce the the cost and time that would otherwise be involved in litigation, limit stress and uncertainty, and address the parties’ unique needs. Jessica will work with and facilitate communication between the parties to seek practical solutions that are customized to fit their circumstances. The cost of mediation is split between the two parties.

An uncontested paternity action is a lawsuit that is brought by an individual when they have had children in common with someone whom they never married and are no longer living with or in a relationship with. The parties agree as to paternity, visitation, custody, and support. Our firm will meet with you, draft all documents, file them with the Court, and appear on your behalf. The flat fee includes meetings, all filing fees with the Court, and service of process, among other costs.

Child custody and visitation can typically be modified once set. The original court-approved Parenting Plan can become outdated or impractical for one or both parties as children become older or circumstances change. Langley Law will meet with you to discuss your needs and goals that work best for you and your family. Our firm will draft a modification of these changes and file them with the court.

In Missouri, many of the family cases can be filed by a non-attorney, sometimes referred to as “pro se”  party. When filing paperwork yourself or filing “pro se,” many different questions can come up. Langley Law offers individuals wishing to file their divorce, family, or name change paperwork themselves the ability to meet with an attorney, ask questions, and/or have an attorney review the paperwork before you file.  Langley Law does not enter for any individual or file the paperwork with the Court.

A prenuptial and postnuptial agreement are legal contracts prepared by an attorney and entered into by two people, either before or after their marriage. These agreements are safeguards to protect spouses in the case of divorce. They’re not just for those with large wealth. These are handy if individuals own a business, own property, or will inherit property, and beyond. The fee includes the creation of the agreement and any finalization.

If you are looking to change your name or to change your name and correct your gender marker, Langley Law is here to help. The process can be quite complicated depending on the circumstances. Our firm will walk you through the legal process, draft all documents, file them with the Court, and appear on your behalf. The flat fee includes meetings, all filing fees with the Court, publication with a local newspaper, and any submissions to vital statistics, among other costs.

If a parent is unable or unwilling to care for and make decisions about the care of their child, a guardian may be appointed to take on those decisions and care. A legal guardianship gives parental decision-making authority over a child to a guardian. An uncontested guardianship means that living parents are consenting to the appointment. Our firm will meet with you, draft all documents, file them with the Court, and appear on your behalf. The flat fee includes meetings, all filing fees with the Court, and guardian background checks, among other costs.

Langley Law offers a variety of legal services, some of which are not listed above. Please contact our office for further information.
